Business Development Manager – In‑person role | four days per week in office, one day remote

Parsons Behle & Latimer — a preeminent regional law firm with over 215 attorneys across 11 offices in the Intermountain Region — is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and relationship‑focused Business Development Manager (BDM) to implement and create business development initiatives that will expand existing client relationships, attract new clients, enhance the Firm’s profile and strengthen its reputation in key markets and sectors. The position can be located in one of our Utah or Idaho offices.

Parsons is adding a second BDM position to support our expanding business development efforts and the growth of the firm; it is not a replacement position. This opportunity is designed for a motivated business development professional to work closely with members of the business development and marketing team, attorneys and the Firm’s leadership to advance Parsons’ strategic business development priorities.

The BDM reports directly to the Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) in Salt Lake City.

What You’ll Do

  • Support local, regional and national business development initiatives that expand the Firm’s presence and open new market opportunities.
  • Partner with the CBDO, Department Heads, and Office Managing Shareholders on targeted BD strategies.
  • Coach and train associate attorneys through the Firm’s Associate Business Development & Marketing Initiative.
  • Develop and implement cross‑selling programs across departments and offices.
  • Enhance the Firm’s client service program, including onboarding experiences, client interviews, feedback surveys, and end‑of‑matter communication.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Director on pitches, RFPs, marketing materials, and competitive intelligence.
  • Conduct market, industry, and competitor research to support BD opportunities.
  • Serve as project lead for BD initiatives from concept through execution.
  • Manage logistics for Firm‑hosted and sponsored events, ensuring they support relationship‑building and visibility.
  • Plan and execute conferences, webinars, and client development events as a Firm representative.
  • Support Firm leadership in identifying sponsorships, events, memberships, and recognition opportunities that elevate Parsons’ brand.
  • Perform additional BD, marketing, and client service responsibilities as needed.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of business development or marketing experience, ideally in a law firm, professional services environment, or nonprofit fundraising.
  • Proven ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing BD, marketing, and strong customer‑service orientation and collaborative mindset.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, writing, communication, and project‑management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Budget management experience and strong analytical skills.
  • A proactive, self‑motivated approach and willingness to learn new processes.
  • Experience coaching attorneys or professionals in business development best practices.
  • Experience using CRM platforms.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Parsons offers a competitive salary depending upon education and relevance of prior work experience. The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000 negotiable, depending on experience and qualifications. Bonus or incentive compensation may apply.
  • Professional development opportunities, conference attendance and involvement in industry and professional associations.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical and dental coverage, profit sharing distribution annually (after eligibility), life insurance coverage, short-term and long-term disability coverage, and personal leave
