Legal Document Specialist (part-time) - SLC

Parsons Behle & Latimer has an immediate opening for a part-time legal document specialist in our Salt Lake office.

This is an in-office position, with flexible daytime hours. The minimum hourly rate is negotiable commensurate with experience.   

Note: as part of the in-person interview, you will be asked to take a knowledge and skills exercise with a 60-minute timeline.

The successful candidate will produce, format, and edit a wide variety of legal documents. The position requires excellent skills, a strong eye for detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document Creation & Formatting – create, edit, and finalize pleadings, contracts, and correspondence
  • Template & Style Management – applying firm styles, templates, and formatting guidelines, e.g., TOCs, TOAs, exhibits, redlines, etc.
  • Conversion & Comparison – converting between Word, PDF, Excel and other formats; running blacklines/redlines
  • Quality Control –paragraph numbering, cross-references; knowledge of Bluebook citations a plus, may include ensuring accuracy in grammar
  • Court & Filing Compliance – formatting documents for e-filing and ensuring they meet court or agency requirements
  • Transcription of hearings, legislative sessions, personal audio from various digital audio sources
  • Document Management Systems (DMS) – saving and organizing documents in NetDocs

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, documents styles, and formatting requirements
  • Experience working in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
  • Excellent grammar, spelling and proofreading skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team
