Alex N. Vandiver

As a member of the firm’s litigation practice, Alex concentrates her practice on commercial and civil litigation. She has significant experience representing financial institutions and commercial lenders. Alex regularly guides clients through every stage of the litigation process,from pre-suit demand letters and complaint drafting to obtaining judgments, negotiating settlements, and enforcing judgments. Her post-judgment collection strategies include domestication of judgments in Utah, debtor examinations, bank and wage garnishments, writs of execution and assistance, property liens to convert favorable rulings into meaningful recoveries. Alex has also worked on adversarial bankruptcy proceedings to avoid the discharge of debts obtained through fraud or misrepresentation.

Alex is also a member of the  environmental and natural resources practice. In this area of practice, Alex assisted utility companies in the pipeline and utility construction through the acquisition of easements and other property rights, whether through negotiation or the use of eminent domain. Alex has also experience representing large-scale employers review and respond to writs and child support orders, including IWO and NMSN, for employees and notices of right to lien from contractors.

Alex’s commitment to excellence in both the legal profession and her community has earned consistent recognition. In 2023, she received the Utah State Bar's Pro Bono Publico Young Lawyer of the Year Award. The following year, the Federal Bar Association honored her with its Pro Bono Award for her advocacy in a civil rights matter. She currently serves as President of the Utah State Bar Young Lawyers Division for the 2025–2026 term. And most recently, in 2026, Utah Business named Alex one of its Woman to Watch in recognition of her leadership and community impact. She also volunteers with the Pro Se Debt Collection Calendar, assisting self-represented debtors and mentoring volunteer attorneys.

Before attending law school, Alex served as an adjunct sociology professor at Salt Lake Community College, honing the analytical rigor, problem-solving, and persuasive communication she now brings to the courtroom.

Alex is fluent in Spanish and conversational in Brazilian Portuguese.
